Two classes of locomotive rebuilt by André Chapelon from Paris-Orléans Pacifics of the early years of the 20th century. On the left, still as a Pacific (4-6-2) is a 231H, which was the most powerful French Pacific and, on the right, is a 241A, a Pacific rebuilt as a 4-8-0. This latter is regarded as Chapelon’s masterpiece. In relation to its size, it was the world’s most powerful locomotive, with an effiency that no other could match.
