Description

“Evening Star” was the last steam locomotive to be built in Great Britain, apart from a few since built by enthusiasts, such as “Tornado”, the A1 class Pacific. “Evening Star” was one of the class 9F 2-10-0’s, of which 250 were built for freight service. In spite of their small wheels, they were sometimes used for passenger trains, at speeds up to 90mph.
